abstract drawing

Completed this drawing a few days ago. I think I started it weeks ago, and put it down for awhile, and then resumed. It began, I assume, with some ink (maybe pencil before that?), followed by colored pencil and then some more ink details.
It’s on archival 8 ply mat board which is 10 x 8″ – the drawing itself roughly one or two inches smaller. This piece, as with most of the other works I’ve been posting on Instagram, is for sale – if you’re interested in purchasing art please send me an email, these works are priced to move.

You know those windmills out by Palm Springs?

This past weekend we took a trip out there in the burning hot sun – to get out of the house, to explore and roam. I had purchased a few Stabilo pens from the new art store in town Neon Moon Art Supply and had an old mostly empty sketchbook with me. We ended up sitting beneath a billboard along side the highway that provided some shade and I sketched the windmills. While I was drawing a slow rolling freight train passed by and we pointed out our favorite graffiti.

Drawings in a book

About 13 years ago I found a pile of books near a dumpster, this was before there were those Little Free Libraries. Seeing all those neglected books waiting to go…to the dump? I would hope at the very least they were going to be recycled. but I don’t know. I grabbed one of them and went home. Eventually I started altering pages, blacking out words, and drawing in the book. The words on the pages made nice details for the backdrops of drawings. I still have the books, and it’s nowhere near complete, but I also recently came across a few scans from the book and thought I’d share them here and on Instagram. Maybe one day I’ll complete every page in the book, at least that’s something to work towards.
