I’ve been on Instagram for several years now and generally post pictures of new work there, and sometimes images of work in progress or random interesting things.
In an attempt to cull and curate my Instagram feed/profile I’ve decided that I’m going to go in and delete a bunch of images that don’t need to be there. Instagram isn’t an archive, nor is it a portfolio – but I think I’d like my profile to be more like a portfolio.
I did the same thing with my Facebook account not too long ago, it was easy since I wasn’t on Facebook much anymore. It’s not that I want to delete social profiles, but lately I think I just want to reduce the noise.
I’m in the midst of posting a series of drawings that I made in Albuquerque, New Mexico last week. I’m posting them about one every other day or so. I’m not sure how long they’ll stay on Instagram – I think new stuff will get posted and hang out there for at least a week. What are your thoughts?
I have 11 drawings available to purchase at Neon Moon Art Supplies & Studio in Claremont, CA. this November. Each drawing is ink and graphite on 8-ply archival mat board, and approximately 6 x 3.5″ They’ll be selling for low low price of only $30 each, first come first serve, while supplies last, etc. etc.
The drawings will be part of the November Group Show at Neon Moon Art Supplies & Studio, and is up during the Claremont Art Walk: Saturday, November 7th from 6pm – 9pm. The Art Walk is open and free to the public. Note: *Galleries are encouraged to follow strict social distancing guidelines and masks are required to be worn in Claremont.*
There may only be one of the drawings on display, when that drawing sells they’ll put another one up. If you’re interested in purchasing more than one, or one that’s different than the one displayed ask them if any other drawings are still available. These would make great holidays gifts for your art-loving friends!
Completed this drawing a few days ago. I think I started it weeks ago, and put it down for awhile, and then resumed. It began, I assume, with some ink (maybe pencil before that?), followed by colored pencil and then some more ink details. It’s on archival 8 ply mat board which is 10 x 8″ – the drawing itself roughly one or two inches smaller. This piece, as with most of the other works I’ve been posting on Instagram, is for sale – if you’re interested in purchasing art please send me an email, these works are priced to move.
Also, if you haven’t heard, I’ve been giving away an original drawing each month to one newsletter subscriber. All you have to do to be entered to win is subscribe to my art newsletter. I only send out one email per month and you can unsubscribe anytime, click below to subscribe!
This past weekend we took a trip out there in the burning hot sun – to get out of the house, to explore and roam. I had purchased a few Stabilo pens from the new art store in town Neon Moon Art Supply and had an old mostly empty sketchbook with me. We ended up sitting beneath a billboard along side the highway that provided some shade and I sketched the windmills. While I was drawing a slow rolling freight train passed by and we pointed out our favorite graffiti.
If you haven’t heard, I’m giving away one original drawing each month to a random newsletter subscriber. It’s free to subscribe, you can unsubscribe any time, and I only send out one mailing per month. I’ve already sent out three drawings, so what are you waiting for? Subscribe below:
