Moving at the end of this month or sooner. I need a haircut. My thoughts are fragmented. Put things in boxes. Throw away old stuff I don’t need anymore. Moving is good for re-evaluation. I’ve put most of my 35mm negatives into 3 hole punched plastic sleeves & got rid of a bunch of useless photos – a mountain, blurry lights, indistinguishable shapes, etc. Going through photos brings back waves of memories: people and places, states of mind. I do miss quite a few people, lost contact years ago.

labor and painting
Making plans to go down to San Diego this weekend to visit with and do yardwork for my dad. Metrolink in the morning, I’ll have to get on the first train at about 6:30am. That will get me to Oceanside by 10:00am, just in time to pull weeds, fix fences, move rocks, etc. Chop wood, carry water. My dad wants me to go down to Rosarito with him, that might happen Friday when I arrive. There’s labor to do down there as well, he’s got a little trailer by the beach, kind of cool. This week raced by with not enough sleep. Painting a portrait for an exhibition…

meandering thoughts from yesterday
Meandering thoughts. Balance, symmetry and the line we walk everyday. Assumptions about reality being called into question. Life is fragile, and currently I’m happy to be alive in this world. Once in awhile you get a wake up call to remind you that your time on earth is limited. A woman on a cell phone at a café Sunday morning was talking in a very valley girl voice about, apparently, nothing at all. After that I wandered through Moca gazing at Basquiat paintings. Later I took a train, but not before stopping at Traxx bar. Walking home from the train station I stopped at a friends house for some beer and conversation, and eventually made it home to sleep after being awake for 37 hours or something crazy like that. I’m losing momentum now, slowing down & getting sleepy. I would like to drink some more coffee now. I’m waiting patiently.
discounted paintings
Golden Pacific Arts (in the Gaslamp district of San Diego) is, unfortunately, closing their doors at the end of October. They’re having a clearance sale of sorts and have asked the artists to discount their work. I have about 8 paintings there which will be discounted 30% – four of these paintings were on the Real World: San Diego (if you know that season a couple appeared above Frankies bed). Spread the word, buy art, and enjoy life.
