– I think I got all the kinks worked out of my new computer, but have yet to test it. Once I’m sure everything works I’ll start transferring files from the old one. I believe I’ll be able to hook up two monitors, which will be great for working on music – one screen can have the multitracks and the other can have soundbanks, other applications, etc. I can’t wait to go try it all out. Last night I was playing some old microcassette recordings (over ambiant music & through the new computer speakers) – it was very cool and got me working on converting some of it to digital. I think there’s another audio project lurking there. Some of the conversations and settings on the microcassettes were pretty disturbing, but maybe they’re only disturbing to me since I know the voices and the context.
Tomorrow I’m picking up a new (but used) Mac and a flat-screen monitor. I’m excited because the Mac I’m using now is a few years (or more?) old, the one I’m picking up tomorrow is newer and faster.
yesterday I traded a lithograqph and a linoleum block print for a space heater (for the studio) – and last night gave it a test run. Its a much better heater than I had pictured acquiring, and though it doesn’t heat the studio up to toasty warm it definitely takes the chill off. No more numb fingers! Its even got a remote control, at first I thought “why would I need a remote control for a space heater?” – but then as I was painting I relaized how great it is and couldn’t fathom a heater without a remote control (it even oscillates on command).
