Four works on paper are matted, framed and ready to install. The show opens this Saturday in Claremont. Two of the pieces appear in Point Suite, contemporary art book – which will be available to purchase, I’ll even sign your copy. Teodor Dumitrescu and Jeff Musser (also in the show and book) will be there as well! ABOUT POINT SUITE

Point Suite Contemporary Art Book showcases the conscious and subconscious thought processes of artists in our time. The artists have created a reflection of our culture and by peering into this reflection we are able to understand what future generations will see when they look back at us. The ideas presented in this book are in the form of paintings, sculptures, prints, photographs, and essays.

ABOUT MIRRORED SOCIETY

Mirrored Society continues to grow according to its founding principles of exploration and friendship, working with like-minded individuals to forge a creative environment that reaches far beyond.

A peek inside the (travel) sketchbook

I recently returned from a week of travels which began in Seattle and ended in Portland. I took a sketchbook and some new supplies: conté and charcoal pencils.

drew a Calder at the Olympic Sculpture Park,

in the Willamette valley I sketched at a couple vineyards – Domaine Drouhin

the only sketching I did in Seattle was at the Portland Japanese Garden.

It was a great trip and I’m happy I took my travel sketchbook. I really enjoyed the feel of conté, I haven’t used it in years. I wanted a medium that was somewhat loose but not too messy.

In other news: I’ll be showing some (abstract) works on paper in the beginning of August (opening reception: August 6th), I’ll post more information about that soon.

Group show: Friday, June 17th

Today I dropped off five paintings at the Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery for the upcoming summer exhibition. These paintings have never been exhibited before, and are acrylic with marble dust (as well as chalk and charcoal on some) on canvas. Geometric abstractions embracing color; each painting is fairly small and looking for a good home. Come by the gallery Friday, June 17th to see them in person (exhibition opening details below)
